Childhood stories can spark a lifelong sense of curiosity and imagination. But when words and music come together in a thoughtful and insightful way, they create something truly magical.

It is this shared love of music and storytelling that inspired the creation of our performances for flute, soprano, and piano.

Blending classical music with narration, we bring familiar tales to life through carefully chosen music that reflects each character, mood and moment. Our performances include The Nutcracker Suite, Aesop's Fables, Alice in Wonderland, The Emperor's Nightingale and A Christmas Carol.

Created in collaboration between flautist Klio Blonz, soprano Mairéad Sheerin and pianist Grace Mo, these performances are designed to introduce young audiences to classical music in an engaging and imaginative way. At the same time, they offer audiences of all ages the chance to rediscover the joy, wonder and magic that stories and music can create together.

Klio Blonz ~ Flute

“It all started in my father’s study and during a moment of childhood restlessness. A vinyl disc with well known fairytales; a narrator, then a harp, a flute,  and suddenly the story came alive in the most peculiar and magical way..”

Passionate about music education, Klio is dedicated to making classical music engaging and accessible for young audiences. Drawing on her extensive experience as both a performer and educator, she works towards creating meaningful musical experiences that encourage creativity, curiosity, and a lifelong love of music.

Alongside an active performing career as a soloist and chamber musician, Klio has appeared at festivals and concert series throughout the UK and abroad. Her performances have been broadcast on BBC Radio 3, and she has performed at leading venues including Cadogan Hall, St John’s Smith Square, the Royal Festival Hall, Blackheath Halls, St James’s Piccadilly, St Martin-in-the-Fields, and Brighton Dome.

Education has always been at the centre of Klio’s career. She has performed for the acclaimed children's concert series Bach to Baby, worked for many years as a Project Leader for Trinity’s Outreach educational programme, and led the highly successful Early Years Department at Blackheath Conservatoire. From 2019 to 2023, she was Creative Director of Classical Music Rocks, a children's music charity in West Norfolk, where she toured extensively, delivering interactive performances in primary schools while developing and expanding the charity’s concert and education programmes, and supporting its fundraising initiatives.

Mairéad Sheerin ~ Soprano

“It all started in my childhood - I was born into an Irish family and it was one filled with songs and storytelling. Everyone had a song and the songs always told a story so, without even really knowing it, I was experiencing that special moment where people are moved by listening to music and at the same time, passing stories from generation to generation. Stories were as important and as natural as breathing!”

Mairéad's love of music and stories led to her reading Music and English at the University of Birmingham. While she kept up her study of cello and piano there, having taken all her grades and reaching diploma level at school, she specialised in voice and went on to study singing at postgraduate level at Birmingham Conservatoire and the University of London before being awarded a place at the prestigious Royal College of Music Opera School. Mairéad went from RCM straight to Glyndebourne where she sang covers, small roles and chorus.

In tandem with her performing career, Mairéad has always been interested in helping others sing, starting with showing friends at university how use their voices safely when singing in rock and pop bands. Under the mentorship of world-renowned vocal coach Paul Farrington, she developed her understanding of the voice and continues to refresh that knowledge – the best teachers are always learning! She specialises in teaching semi-professional adults, running a private practice at home, teaching at Blackheath Conservatoire and directing several choirs. Mairéad is also Artistic Director of Blackheath Conservatoire, responsible for the educational and creative aspects of the organisation.

“Curiouser & Curiouser brings together everything I love to do! Playing the instruments I have enjoyed throughout my life, as well as singing of course, but most of all, creating and sharing stories.”

                  Who We Are

Grace Mo ~ Piano

“It all started with a huge collection of cassettes – a mixture of instrumental, orchestral, and musical stories, which I would play as a child from front to back and back to front all over again. Often during dinner time, I would be given permission to choose and play Dad’s collection of LPs. There were all kinds of different music; oldies, tangos, and the album of Xmas songs were amongst some of my favorites.  When I was a teenager, I used to play the accordion and the flute in my school bands and was responsible for sourcing soundtracks for our school film projects – the enthusiasm of my younger self spending countless hours listening, discovering, and reading music still left me with awe!”

Grace was born in Taiwan and raised in Vancouver, Canada. She studied piano performance at University of British Columbia and trained at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama, where she held the Leverhulme Chamber Music Fellowship and Artist Diploma. As an experienced chamber musician, Grace has been awarded the title of 'The Best Concertmaster' at the Rimsky-Korsakov Conservatoire in St. Petersburg for her chamber music work and musical interpretations.

Having performed and collaborated with various musicians and students at major music festivals and venues for over twenty years, Grace has also developed a keen interest in piano pedagogy. She now regularly teaches and works with young students at leading schools in London and finds fulfillment in sharing her knowledge and passion for music with young pupils.
